Apple launches a new Macbook Pro line
Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 10:20AM Apple launched a new line of Macbook Pros and I am going to have to get one now. I have been wanting to get into a smaller 13 in model because I am on the go so much these days, but there wasn't any upgrade for my 15in model till now.
Highlights of the new features:
- The Core i5 and i7 processors, something the 15 and 17 already have but now they are quad core processors. And new to the 13in model is the dual core, i5 and i7 capability.
- Apple switched from Nvidia to ATI for graphics. There was some issues on the 06 model of macbook pro with the displays going bad, so I am assuming that is what pushed the change but it adds 3X the speed.
- Thunderbolt, a new state of the art technology for I/O. Transfers will be as fast as 10 GBs on this new platform. That will be worth it in itself when it becomes more mainstream.
- A new HD camera for the application Facetime. So now you can video chat from your computer to people's phone. That should be useful for many.
